Lotion sits in tall containers with something mechanical on top, and that one detail changes the whole build.

Every lotion format goes wrong in a specific way. Pump bottles are top-heavy and the actuator can depress in a case, which means lotion in the carton before it reaches a customer. Squeeze tubes roll, and a rolling tube inside a printed box scuffs the inside of the panel. HDPE bottles flex, so a carton cut too close will bulge at the middle. Larger family sizes are heavy enough that a thin base gives out at the corners.

The insert is what solves most of it. We cut a flat cradle for tubes so they lie still, a base ring for pump bottles so they cannot tip, and enough clearance above the actuator that nothing presses on it when the flap closes. A tall dropper serum carton uses the same principle at a smaller scale, and the difference is only in how much weight the insert has to hold. Structure is your call on top of that: a tuck-end carton handles retail and shipping for most sizes, a sleeve suits a lotion and wash sold together, and a rigid two-piece box gives a premium hand cream some heft. Stock deserves more thought here than in most categories, because lotion is not opened once and put away. It lives on a counter or a nightstand and gets picked up every day, sometimes with wet hands. White cardstock is the default for a reason: it takes the sharpest full-color print and every finish on offer. Brown recyclable kraft fits refill programs and uncoated, botanical-looking body care, though it holds less detail in the artwork. Corrugated earns its place on the larger sizes, where a sixteen ounce bottle ships direct and the box has to survive a carrier. Luxury rigid board suits a hand cream priced as a gift, where the packaging is part of what someone is paying for.

A matte or gloss laminate then keeps the print from scuffing through repeated handling. Foil stamping, spot UV, and embossing all run on lotion cartons, and they do the most work on the small formats where the box is most of what a buyer sees.
